Laughter in the Halls - Jezz, Rayenia, and Svoran

Master of Arms Office
A large wooden desk dominates the center of the room,
it's surface worn smooth by long years of use. An elegant
chair is positioned behind the desk. A bowl of dried,
blood-red sealing wax is being used as a paperweight on
top of several important-looking documents. A metal stand sits
to the right of the chair with pegs jutting out to hold a
sword and shield. There are several bookshelves along the
walls filled with books of every subject. A large map of
the known world is pinned to one wall with several other,
colored pins marking various locales. A large Tairen rug
covers most of the marble floor.

A map of the known world hangs on the wall.
A large piece of blood-red sealing wax rests here.

Jezz and Rayenia had met at an earlier time frame regarding the trip, which they have, but its been a few days. Although, something was hanging up the plans. Finding Raye, the Green indicated for the grey to follow her... And to the Master of Arms office they strode. Well, Jezz more like a stalking cat in her leather and lace, whereas her counterpart had much more decorum. Tapping on the door, the two Aes Sedai, waiting for the Master of Arms to send the hussy or trainee down the ladder under the rug until the meeting was over.

If there's really a ladder under the rug, someone was going to get an earful.  But there's not, so why waste time on it?  What happens in mirror worlds, and all.  You'll find the man scowling at one particular piece of paper, seated on his arse at the desk, turning over the page of a report with such a fierce look of disapproval on his features, that one might well feel sorry for the first student in need of discipline that he gets his hands on.  [Svoran]

Rayenia decides to open the door, they've given Master Beridar long enough to answer.  She holds the door open for Jezz to enter first.  "Master Beridar, I hope we are not intruding."  Once the Green is inside the Gray follows and closes the door behind her.

Glancing to Rayenia, Jezz enters the room and stands to one side to allow the Grey follow suit. "I hope we're not disturbing you, Master Beridar." She waits until he has finished scowling at the paper in hand. She drags the dagger from its sheath and gently picks under her nails.   [Jezz]

Rayenia is unarmed so she can't do impressive things like pick under her nails, she only knows the sharp end goes in the man.  As Jezz is on one side of the doorway, Rayenia takes post on the other side.  Her next words are slightly off subject, "I hope that Novice Acelyn brought to your offices a young man by the name of Kaden Zoss?"

"No, you're not."  Despite the words, he's irritated in tone all the same.  "Someone is trying my patience with supplies we need, and I'm of a mind to put the fear of the Light in every last bloody clerk involved."  Grunting irritably, dark eyes glancing over the two of you briefly, he'll actually get to his feet with a faint bow, but will plop down in that chair right after.  "As to the boy, it's dealt with.  Nothing to fuss over.  The obvious question then is what you want.  I can guess, but I'd rather hear it straight out."  [Svoran]

Inclining her head in greeting with a short dip of a curtsey, Jezz glances to the Grey, then resumes fussing with her nails. She would allow the Grey her say before responding. "We're delayed in leaving, unfortunately. I had wanted to travel with the Aiel south, but something that needs to be take care of first has.. irritatingly... been postponed. Again." She sighs with a glance to Svoran, "But that gives you time to aquant yourself with your new recruit, no?"   [Jezz]

Svoran gives Jezz a look.  Maybe it's irritability, or maybe he's just suspicious about the way the Green says that, but he gives her a level look as though she had accused him of something in those words all the same.  He says nothing about it, though, giving a small shake of his head and a grunt, in the end, folding those thick arms and peering between Green and Grey equally now.  "I rather doubt you two came here to talk about me keeping another idiot boy in line," he says dryly, "so it must be something else.  Aes Sedai don't come to us just for tea."

"Master Beridar," the Gray folds her hands at her waist, "I understand that we are in your office, however, we are not here to waste your time or demand for discipline for any of your trainees.  Please," Rayenia offers Svoran a smile, "let us finish.  I had asked for you to accompany me South, and I have recently learned, thanks to my Sister," she briefly gestures to Jezz, "that the woman I was looking for was found and is safe.  I wanted to thank you for agreeing to accompany me."  [Rayenia]

Rayenia continues, "From what I understand you are still traveling to the south but under different circumstances, I am joining Jezz on her travels as well. I hope that we will have time to discuss those whom you felt might be," she searches for the wording, "adequate candidates for potential Warders."

Jezz has no idea why Svoran would be staring at her as if she was accusing him of anything. She gives him a questioning look as Rayenia speaks, but then resumes clean out her nails. Spreading her hand out in front of her, she glances at each fingertip. Satisfied, she slips the dagger back into its home. Her gaze shifts over to Rayenia when the mention of potential warders are brought up, her eyebrow arching up towards her hairline briefly, but thats all the reaction she gives the matter.

Jezz isn't the only one that gives Rayenia a look regarding potential Warders.  There's a twitch of the eyebrow from Svoran as well, but again he says nothing.  "So what I'm hearing, is that all that talk about me going with you is basically just that, now," he says to Rayenia in his gravel voice, a bit wry.  "So since you two seem to be bored and lonely, what would the purpose of what you're proposing be this time?"  Something suddenly got him into a humor, as there's a twitch at his mouth almost as if on the verge of smirking, as he sits back on that chair with his arms folded, waiting to see what he's about to hear /this/ time.  [Svoran]

"I had thought you.. " Rayenia's lips form a frown, her hands move to her sides and eventually turn to fists.  She's angry but she's working at keeping her expression as calm as possible.  "On second thought, I do not care to hear whom you may feel is up to any task.  I came to let you know that I did not require your services, that I would not be pulling you away from your duties here in the Tower."  She draws in a sharp breath, her composure is slipping, "If I had asked for your opinion on if I am lonely or not, you would have had it submitted in writing."  She turns and reaches for the door handle, intent to leave.  [Rayenia]

'Bored and lonely.' The Green mouths silently, staring hard at Svoran, about to say something, Rayenia beats her to the punch. Waiting with a small smirk, it gives the Green to rein in Sabrina long enough to compose herself. "No, not bored and lonely. You had already agreed to go south, you would still be going south, but only as far as Caemlyn. I don't fear the Aiel, so much as how many people are congregating in the city with all the upset in the world. Not everyone has a healthy respect for Aes Sedai. Myself, I'm not interested in any... adequate candidates for a potential warder." She gives Rayenia an apologetic look for using her words in such a way, then shifts her gaze back to Svoran, "Only a simple guardsman to escort a couple Aes Sedai to Caemlyn and back. I have business there."  [Jezz]

"Wait," Svoran says flatly to Rayenia, but it's not so much a command so much as a request.  "That was a bloody joke, Aes Sedai; maybe not one in the best taste, given when you two showed up, but I wasn't trying to belittle your requests.  It's better than finding out someone is spending a bit too much of the Tower's coin for things we don't need, for reasons I'd very much like to hear.  As to escort, I thought it was clear I was willing to go with you on this little venture, and if the goal changes I don't see how that /doesn't/ alter the fact that I'd made certain promises to go with you in the first place."  [Svoran]

Rayenia's hand is on the door handle and as Svoran speaks, she pauses only Light knows why.  "You were clear," she turns around, still quite angry and it shows in her cheeks, "and I was thanking you for that.  I was also understanding that you were traveling south regardless and I felt it best to allow you the chance to travel in.." she sighs, "In a way that matched your station and rank as Master at Arms instead of playing protector to myself.  I was attempting to pay you respect."

Jezz had said her piece, but it seems Svoran had to make nice with the Grey sister. She glances to her then back to him, "The two of you should just bond and get it over with." She snorts, finding it rather amusing and about to leave when she notices the Grey still has her hand on the handle. "Although, I would rather be gone while you take care of that."

Rayenia turns and looks at Jezz pointedly, one of those looks that says that the two Sedai should talk later.  Meddling Greens.

"You realize, Aes Sedai, that my rank as Master at Arms has next to no bloody meaning outside of the Tower, that by asking me to come along was to ask me to 'play' protector."  There's a bit of heavy sarcasm in the word play, making it clear that Svoran doesn't consider it any such thing.  "I don't think I need to say further on the subject of respect when it concerns asking any of us to go with you, because it is such to any man.  The only question that comes up is how many of them are actually suited for it.  Some of those boys might well blush and stammer thanks then be all cow-eyed at the idea of getting what they came here for, whether or not they really understand what it means, but I digress."  [Svoran]

Leaning against the door, Jezz takes in the exchange with an air of amusement, touching her fingers to her lips to keep from laughing aloud. She really needs to keep the amusement of the moment from breaking the tension.   [Jezz]

"It is not for me to sort out who has what it takes or not, Svoran,"  Um.. she's gone to first names.  Rayenia's arms fold across her chest, her feet planted in the stance of defiance.  "that is your job.  I had only ever considered one person and things changed to where it was not possible."  She shakes her head, "That is neither here nor there.." yep, that's the steam point.  "Never-mind! Blood and bloody ashes, just never you mind!"  Aes Sedai curse?  What class is that taught in.  [Rayenia]

"I'll consider this warning to make preparations, Aes Sedai," Beridar replies dryly.  First names or not, he isn't going to those yet, even if it's with honorifics attached.  Jezz gets a meaningful look, for a long list of reasons, the least of which being: he's well aware she's trying not to pee herself laughing.  She just might, if she had a lot of tea today by the time this conversation came around.  "For the rest, I'll wait to hear for your departure warning."  [Svoran]

Ok, the look from him and the Grey cursing is enough to make her finally burst into laughter. "Oh bloody hell, this is beautiful." She grasps her sides and leans over into a fit of giggles that she is nearly crying she is laughing so hard. No, she hasn't had enough tea to pee herself laughing, but she does slide down the door and lands on her bony butt which only makes the waif laugh some more.   [Jezz]

Rayenia turns on her heel which causes her skirts to rustle and swish, stupid silk always being mouthy, wordlessly.  She does this in perfect timing to see Jezz sink to the floor in a fit of laughter.  "Oh honestly.." if the Gray can turn the handle and open the door without stepping on Jezz she attempts to do so.  Now she's embarrassed and upset, whee!

And that's where Beridar sighs, as Rayenia flees.  His dark eyes swivel straight to the laughing Green, and he'll offer her a few words and gestures that should shape up laughter real fast: Snapped fingers, point to the door, and "You can go, Aes Sedai, because all that will be bloody distracting from the rest of these reports."  [Svoran]

As Rayenia tugs the door open, Jezz falls over on her side, more from the door pushing the skinny woman out of the way to make her escape. "Oh dear me." She pushes her self up right once more, a smile blooming across her face from the previous giggle fit, "Master Beridar, help me up, would you? And I'll be out of here and out of your hair until its time to leave."  [Jezz]

Svoran will help Jezz up.  He'll even help her out the door and hold it open for her.  It's not quite ushering, it's not quite pushing, but it's obvious he wants her gone, and quickly.  The exact reason why makes it quite obvious, because as soon as the door is closed, silence erupts outside from the interior.  And should Aes Sedai ears be burning to the point they linger, or channel the days of their novitiate and put them against the door, they'd no doubt hear him bursting out in full volumed laughing from inside.
