Savina, Rowena, Ailsa and Mortai - The Hangover or why we don't listen to Mortai

Rowena slides her gaze back to Mortai, glare sliding back into place, a scowl, pulling her full lips down, drawing her eyebrows over her nose, and her light brown eyes to a squint. "Too bloody much apparently. Five, maybe six." As she slides her slender frame into the offered chair, her tanned face smooths out and she grimaces at the bread, her face paling at the thought of food on her delicate stomach. She turns to Ailsa, "Mortai, here," she waves a small hand in his direction," told me if I held brandy under my tongue, it would numb it and be easier to swallow." Sliding a glare back Mortai's way, "What he failed to mention was, it gets you drunk really fast." She lifts a hand to her left temple, rubbing in circles, "And flaming idiot that I am did it." She reaches slowly for the bread offered, right hand trembling faintly, and slides it in front of her.

Savina came to Caemlyn to find adventure - she's found it alright.  She also found ale and brandy, several attractive young men, and a good stern lecture about what is and is not proper for a young lady to drink.  The first two she's happy about, especially the one whom she stole a kiss from, the lecture however can burn.  The Kandori had heard that the Merry Company was an excellent establishment, and even better she's not under the eye of her guardians, as of yet.  Entering the common room the blonde is happily surprised to see that even at this pre-meal hour, there's patrons.. and familiar faces!  She smiles and hastens her steps to meet up with Rowena, Mortai and a very curvacious Lady towards the back of the Inn.

Ailsa listens to Rowena, compassion on her dark face, but as the young woman moves her glare back to Mortai, the Gleewoman cannot help but do the same.  Her expression, however, is not murderous, it is highly, deeply amused.  "Well that was... mean," she agrees, trying to keep her alto voice quiet and sympathetic even while she grins at her young countryman.  The bouncy entry receives a quick once-over from bright amber eyes, and a nod when it is clear she is headed for their table.

The young woman's confession finally breaks Mortai's resolve, and the smile that had been threatening his lips breaks through his defenses despite his best efforts, the young man grinning broadly, a surprisingly refreshing and light expression on the normally serious-faced Bander.  "Six?  Light, and you can't weigh more than... what, eight, ten stone?"  He shakes his head quickly, then gestures at the bread once more.  "Eat that.  Get some food in you.  You'd be amazed how much that helps."  That said, he turns towards Ailsa and nods in solemn agreement, the smile fading once more.  "It's true.  I am a mean and malicious man."  This time, the new arrival does not catch his notice - apparently the presence of two women focusing their gazes on him is enough to dull even Mortai's usually observant air.  [Mortai]

Rowena slowly begins pinching bread off and slides it into her mouth, chewing slowly, the woman. Kin?, returns with both water and milk, placing them in front of her. She reaches a dainty, faintly trembling hand toward the milk and takes a small sip. Her gaze which had been on the bread, moves to Mortai, her usual cheer replacing the loathing, and with a sigh," It's my own fault, I was pretending to be a big girl, when all I am is still just that. A girl." She turns back to Ailsa, winking at her, a small grin on her lips and continues to eat the bread and drink the milk before her, not seeing her new drinking buddy walk in the door.

Savina is just about to greet Rowena and then notices she's a bit green around the gils.  When she speaks, her voice is quieter, "Hi Rowena," she nods to Mortai as well, "Afternoon," her tone is quizzical as to the wording but then she shrugs it off.  "Greetings," her tone is much more formal towards Ailsa, after all she doesn't know her and it is impolite to be familiar with persons you do not know.  Now, it is true, she did drink with Rowena last night though, she's not quite as green as her new friend.

Maybe, just maybe, the hint of a vaguely callow pout tugs at Ailsa's lower lip as Mortai's stubborn imperturbability is broken by the girl's sad state.  If such a hint actually did appear, it is hidden almost immediately as the curvy acrobat swipes her wine glass from the table and takes a long, slow drink.  When the white-haired Bander solemnly agrees with her, her answer is to simply lift her sculpted right eyebrow high up toward her hairline.  She lowers her glass and sits up, once more resting her chest atop the table.  Catching Ro's grin and wink, the Gleewoman does not actually take her honey eyes from Mortai as she lifts the corners of her mouth in an encouraging grin for the young woman.  After a second, she does slids her gaze away from the young man and toward Rowena, then up to the new arrival.  "Good evening," she says, her smile and sparkling eyes brightening noticeably.  [Ailsa]

Nodding towards Savina as she approaches, Mortai spends a moment glancing around the common room, looking for anyone else he might've missed whilst positively withering under the gaze of the two women.  He then asks, curiously, "Was I as taken by the drink last night as she was..."  He nods towards Rowena, "Or was there another one of you around?"  Despite the Cairhienen man's words, the faint hint of a smile is back on his lips, the corners turning up just a little to give indication that he does, in fact, have something Rowena might not: a full memory of what happened while he was at the Lion Banner.  He turns towards Ailsa, winking quickly, and then gesturing towards the newest arrival, "Ailsa, may I present Savina.  Or Kavina.  I'm afraid you'll have to ask her to be sure."  [Mortai]

Rowena glances up as Savina arrives, noticing the green, she remembers her from last night. But not much after asking Wyl to dance. "'ello Savina." and with a grin to her new found friend, takes another bite. "Did you get in trouble with that Warder last night?" She turns to Ailsa,"Drinking with the Band is not for the faint of heart, I'm going to have to build a tolerance." She smiles wide, her dimple flashing, and takes a drink.

A laugh escapes her lips as Mortai artfully asks if he was seeing two of her in actuality or if it was to be blamed on the brandy.  Brandy, a drink that gets all blame these days.  The stealer of reason and virtue but it's oh, so tasty.  Savina nods to Mortai, "Yes, last night there were two but my twin, Kavina, is off practicing."  Yeah, because Kavina didn't serve a good deal of flippant lip to their guardian like Savina did.  "No, I on the other hand..." she sighs softly, gesturing to an empty chair she asks, "may I?"    [Savina]

Ailsa tilts her head, a curious look on her uncharacteristically dark - and apparently quite youthful-looking - face as she scans first Savina, then Rowena, then back to the newest companion.  Her alto voice is low and holds a little more evidence of her Cairhienin roots as thoughtful words lilt off her lips.  "Yet another pair of twins," she says musingly, almost to herself.  Raising her voice to greet the green-clad girl, Ailsa nods once more.  "Light's blessing, Savina."  Her free left hand gestures openly to the table in invitation, then rests daintily atop her chest, "I'm Ailsa."

Raising an eyebrow at Ailsa, Mortai turns his head towards his countrywoman and regards her with an even gaze for a moment.  "Another pair?"  He pauses briefly, thinking back to the woman's comments from earlier.  "Wait... you said I might have guarded your twin brother..."  Suddenly, the slight man's gaze sweeps across the three women at his table.  "I am the only person at this table not part of a set of twins."  [Mortai]

Rowena continues to eat the bread, not looking quite so green now. Her usual cheerfulness coming back to the forefront, she looks over at Mortai, and shakes her dark head, long braid swinging slightly. "Apparently not." She takes another bite, chewing thoughtfully, "Mortai, what do you do in the Band?"

Savina accepts the seat with a gracious nod, "Thank you."  Instead of sitting cross-legged the blonde woman sits normally with both feet on the floor. "A pleasure to meet you, Ailsa." she sits forward slightly, resting her forearms on the edge of the table. "More twins?"  Twins are.. everywhere!  The portfolio on the table, colorful swatches, does draw her attention for a moment, even though she's in breeches right now doesn't mean she doesn't appreciate fine fabrics.

Ailsa grins at Mortai with the left side of her mouth and drinks deep of her soft pink wine, honey eyes somewhat distant with thought.  Despite some portion of her mind being off elsewhere, the Gleegirl does catch Savina's gaze moving to her sadly not-forgotten, towering portfolio of fabric swatches, and her own follows shortly behind, landing on the book she has been ignoring.  Sighing, she downs the remainder of her wine and clearly begins preparing herself to stand.  Slowly.

Still sweeping his gaze between the three women nearby, Mortai answers Rowena's question almost absently.  "I'm a crossbowman.  And a scout.  Or spy.  Whatever's needed."  He raises his brandy to his lips, sipping absently, and apparently completely free of the malady ailing the young fellow bander.  Noticing Ailsa's movements, the man turns his eyes towards the gleegirl, that flicker of a smile playing about his lips as he suggests, "While you're looking for the costume for your fire dancing, make sure you pick out something nice for the water bit."  [Mortai]

A rich purple swatch seems to have caught Savina's eye.  She glances to Ailsa and then back to the sample a couple of times, as Ailsa stands up she knows she needs to speak up now, "This one here," she gently touches the purple in question, "would go nicely with your complexion, if you do not mind my saying." Mortai's words of what his duties are, or could be, evokes a grin from the Kandori.  "So one could say, Mortai, that you are a Jack-of-All-Trades?"  [Savina]

Rowena watches Ailsa stand, albeit a bit slowly, "I didn't mean to run you off." smiling at the gleewoman. She turns her gaze back to Mortai," I am still debating on forgiving you for the trick you pulled if you will train me on crossbow." She finishes off the bread and milk, and reaches for the water. She grins at the fellow Bander, "I am just a lowly bowwoman." Looking at the swatch that Savina points to, she nods her head in agreement.

An eyebrow lifts as Ailsa smirks invitingly at Mortai, then puts both palms to the table and simply lifts herself to a graceful stand.  "I'll keep it in mind, Savina.  Thank you."  One hand comes down to gently touch Rowena on the shoulder with a smile.  Before lifting her gargantuan binder, the lithe acrobat sways around the table to the chair Mortai is seated in: the one she initially chose for herself, and the one which currently supports her form-fitting black manteau.  From close behind him, the Gleewoman's expansive chest not at all far from brushing against the back of the young man's white hair (assuming he doesn't lean forward to escape such a fate), Ailsa rests her fingers on the shoulders of her jacket and murmurs warmly, "You've stolen my clothes, Crossbowman."  [Ailsa]

Flashing a quick smile at Rowena, the expression touching his lips, then fading away once more as he reverts to his normally bland expression, "I'd be glad to."  The slight man turns his gaze towards Ailsa for a moment, downing his drink as he does so before setting the empty glass back atop the table before him.  "Yes."  He pauses for a moment, letting the word stand on its own as though he intends to do nothing about the matter.  Then he flashes her another grin, rising to his feet himself.  "But, my lovely companions, I'm afraid I need to arrive on time to stand in one place for a few hours.  With, I suppose, some pacing back and forth every once in a while."  He glances to the Kandori twin (as opposed to the Cairhienen or Andoran twin nearby) and adds, "And no, not of all trades.  For example, I'm terrible with horses.  I can stay on one, but don't ask me to take care of them.  Not enough in the Foregate for me to have them around."  He pauses, then adds, with what might be a quick shudder, "And they're just too... big."  [Mortai]

Savina can't believe her ears, 'lowly bowwoman' sems to resonate in her mind. "Now, just because the brandy bit you does -not- mean you can start depreciating your skills." Sitting back slightly the blonde haired woman shakes her head, her own braid falling from her shoulder to rest beside her own bow.  Ailsa's verbal and visual innuendo towards Mortai, who seems to be afraid of horses, brings yet another grin to the young woman. "Horses aren't that bad, but they know if you're not comfortable about them."  She's so glad she got to Caemlyn, much more interesting than Chachin.

Rowena downs the water, then grimaces, and looks up to see Mortai stand. "I would be grateful." With a grin at the other two women,"And horses aren't
that bad, all that big power between your thighs..." Her soft voice trails off a queer expression. She shakes her head as if to clear her thoughts, and moves her hands to the table, using them to push herself upright. "I must go as well, Mat, has me on nightwatch, probably as punishment, since according to him I passed out and he had to carry me back to the Embassy." She grins at the occupants.

Ailsa lets out a quiet, husky chuckle at Mortai's monosyllabic response and show of immovability, honey-colored eyes twinkling at him.  As her countryman stands, she sweeps her tailored black jacket off the back of the chair and with a flourish swirls it about herself, sliding her arms in the sleeves and easily buttoning the overlarge silver buttons on the front.  Pulling her long black ponytail out from under the collar of her coat, she moves to the portfolio, sighs, then wrangles it off the tabletop and lifts it, hugging it to her chest.  The binder is large enough that it is actually a real armful for her and, though the weight seems to be no trouble, it is cumbersome in its shape.  Lifting her chin so it pops over the top edge of the fabric sample book, she laughs at Rowena.  "He means he *got to* carry you back, dear."  Eyes taking in all the young folk gathered, the acrobat says, "Light bless you all," then starts to move to the door, careful not to hit anything or anyone with her large bundle.

Nodding at Rowena, Mortai gestures towards the door.  "I'll walk you back.  Headed the same way you are, after all."  The slight man then turns, and gives a half bow towards Kavina.  His voice abruptly shifts, accent still Cairhienen, but no longer the clipped and somewhat lower class pattern from before.  Rather it shifts up to a noble's cadence as he says, "My lady..."  he pauses, briefly, remembering the Kandori's introduction from earlier, "Savina, it was a pleasure to see you again."  He looks towards the departing Ailsa and calls out in an accent even lower class than before, and no longer Cairhienen - this one much closer to what street rats in the area might use - "Remember wot I said 'bout them watery bits."  And then he holds his elbow towards Rowena, offering to walk her out.  [Mortai]

Savina can attest to that, Rowena -did- pass out last night and Mat -did- carry her out.  She thinks twice and opts to not comment on big power between her, or anyone else's thighs.  "I hope your watch goes well," she nods to Mortai and to Rowena.  "Light keep you, Ailsa."  Seems that she's a bit late to the party but the food smells good, at least she can eat before finding more trouble to get into.

Ailsa lets Mortai and Rowena lead the way, if only to have someone open the door for her.

A thoughtful expression on her face at Ailsa's comment, a light suddenly shines in her eyes. They grow wide in her face and a blush covers her tanned skin. She stands with Mortai and takes his elbow allowing him to lead her. "Good Evening, Savina."  [Rowena]
